FALLING AWAY: Watford nine points behind leaders after Huddersfield loss

Published on: 20th December 2020   |   By: Tim Green   |   Category: Watford FC

Mistakes from Ben Foster and Etienne Capoue meant Vladimir Ivic and Watford left West Yorkshire empty handed as the Hornets lost 2-0 to Huddersfield this afternoon.

After former England international Ben Foster dwelt on a backpass, his kick was closed down by Isaac Mbenza and the ball fell to Fraizer Campbell who put the hosts in front.

Watford then began to come back into the game with Tom Cleverley, James Garner and Andre Gray all going close but the away team’s task was made doubly difficult when Etienne Capoue shanked a clearance from a corner into his own net, doubling the Terriers lead.

Watford improved after the break but couldn’t find a way past Huddersfield keeper Ryan Gray.

Watford are next in action on Boxing Day when they take on Norwich City at Vicarage Road.
