A church in Kings Langley is undergoing a project which is set to make it more suited to the village society for years to come.
All Saints Church is thinking up plans surrounding a reordering which will look to update fixtures, fittings and decoration of the church.
This will include adaptations to seating arrangements, access to the church, emphasis on the historical features and arranging the church to be used by the wider community.
Father James, team vicar at All Saints said now is the right time to undergo the building works which will help the church meet the needs of society.
He said: “The church we see today has hardly ever stood still in its 800 plus year history. Our predecessors adapted the building to meet the needs of their time.
“Very little of what you see, both inside and out would have been visible when it first opened and what you see today is a real patchwork of additions and building works completed to make the building more suitable for the life and worship of the congregation at that time.
“We believe that now is the right time for us to do the same.”
The reordering process will also allow the Edmund de Langley tomb to be displayed with pride of place with improved interpretation and display of the artefacts.
A Reordering Committee has been set up to help with further plans which will be put towards the public for feedback.
