Daisy Cooper, MP for St Albans, pledged her support for the Campaign for Real Ale (CMRA) in Parliament on Tuesday, October 8.
Posting on social media site X, the MP said: “Great to meet CAMRA in Parliament to reaffirm my support for pubs and breweries ahead of the Budget inc by scrapping the broken business rates system.
“I’m a long-standing supporter of our St Albans pubs: the heart of our local economy and community.”
Speaking to St Albans News, Ian Boyd chair of the South Hertfordshire CAMRA branch based on Hatfield Road St Albans, said: “We work hand-in-hand with the ‘Save St Albans Pubs’ group and our MP Daisy Cooper, to help protect our precious community spaces against the hugely unfair rates and taxes that are crippling pubs and hospitality centres everywhere.”
CAMRA chairman Ash Corbett-Collins added : “Ahead of the upcoming Autumn Budget, CAMRA members across the UK have been emailing their local MPs to help secure much-needed support for pubs, social clubs, brewers and cider makers.”
