The Chiltern Open Air Museum in Chalfont St Giles will soon play host to a 17th Century ‘Ambigue’.
The ‘Ambigue’ will take place on August 7 and 8 and it will be brought to life by the ‘History Re-enactment Workshop’ group.
An ‘Ambigue’ is akin to a modern picnic, and visitors will be able to observe the servants preparing the food for a local landowning family and their guests.
While the picnic takes place, visitors will be able to engage the demonstrators in conversation in order to learn about 17th century life and how it differed markedly according to rank and social station.
There will also be discussions about topical issues of the day, including the gossip surrounding the Royal Court and the contemporary attitudes towards garden design.
You can book your tickets via the Chiltern Open Air Museum website at coam.org.uk
