Many residents have shared their tributes and contributed donations after a much-loved member of the Tring community sadly passed away on Saturday, February 8.
More than £15,000 has now been raised in memory of late Tring resident Andrew ‘Skinny’ Day to help support costs for the funeral, wake, and a bench in his memory, as well as a donation to local charity Hector’s House.
Hundreds of people have contributed to the online tribute page, sharing their condolences, pictures, and memories of Andrew, who touched the lives of many in Tring and beyond.
Organisers on the fundraising page wrote: “On behalf of Andy’s family, thank you to everyone who has donated and contributed to this fundraiser. The support, care, online tribute messages, and amount raised is astonishing, and we are eternally grateful.
“It is heartwarming to see the impact Andy made on everyone. To have reached the intended target in under 24 hours was astonishing, and goes to show the reach of Andy’s network, friends and family who cared for him.
“The funds raised through this fundraiser will help the family with the costs of the funeral, wake, and memorial bench, with the remaining being donated to Hector’s House, a mental health awareness charity who do great work. Thank you so much to everyone, it means so much.”
