A Radlett synagogue has hosted a quiz night with charities after raising a whopping £22,028 as part of its High Holyday (HHD) Appeal.
Radlett Reform Synagogue (RRS) hosted the event on Sunday, February 9. In attendance were representatives from three of the charities the synagogue has raised money for.
RRS raised money during the holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur for children’s charity Helping Herts; UK friends of the Parents Circle, an organisation of bereaved Israelis and Palestinians who work together towards peace; and HIAS+JCORE, who help displaced people to thrive.
In a post on Facebook, RRS said: “A full shul of people came together to celebrate social action within our community. Organised by our Tikkun Olam Team, this fun evening of brain-teasers and trivia also gave us a chance to hear directly from our chosen HHD charities; how the money we raised will be used to make a positive impact.”
Margot Shatz, one of the organisers, said: “This fantastic evening is just the start of efforts to make social action integral to synagogue life and at the heart of our community.”
