EMOTIONAL MOMENT: Four-year-old girl from Chalfont St Giles reunited with stolen dog

A four year old girl was over the moon when she was reunited with her dog which was stolen from his home in Chalfont St Giles.

Step mum Stevie Hogan returned home on October 6 to see broken glass everywhere, a door wide open and Brian the Beagle missing.

Speaking to CHALFONTSnews, Stevie said: “We had got home, it was so dark and as we walked up our path and there was glass everywhere and to our horror the door wide open.

“Immediately, it set it that Brian was gone, and we might never see him again, our first feelings was definitely shock. After the police had left, the sadness and the heartbreak came, neither of us slept for 48 hours, we felt guilty to even eat or sleep whilst Brian was out there.

“The four year old (referred to as LG) is my step daughter. We had no intentions of telling her that her best friend was gone. Her nanny’s dog that she loved passed away recently and she is still adjusting to that, this news would have broken her.”

Her dad Harry and Stevie spent the weekend at a hotel with LG as they didn’t feel safe at home, and they hoped LG would not notice Brian’s absence.

Stevie continued: “We told her he had gone to a doggy spa for the weekend, to get doggy pampered. That didn’t stop her asking why we aren’t seeing Brian every few minutes.”

Brian was located three days later wandering in Luton for reasons still unknown.

She added: “A vet’s clinic then contacted us after checking his microchip. When I got that call, I broke down in tears, so much so it made the vet on the other side of the phone cry too.

“We firstly took him to see everyone, because so many were missing him, and then we took him somewhere safe, as home does not feel like that yet, and we spent the day just having cuddles, and just completely over the moon and happy to have him back.”
