A contestant from Rickmansworth is in the running to represent Great Britain at the Miss Universe Pageant this summer.

Charlotte White, 26, will be one of around 40 women taking part in the 2018 Miss Universe Great Britain competition in South Wales in July.

She told RickyNews she was delighted.

Charlotte commented: “I will be doing all that I can in the next few months to prepare. Miss Universe is one of the biggest pageants in the world and I think it’s going to be a huge adventure as well as a lot of fun.”

In the run-up Charlotte will be tasked with a series of challenges and fundraising for A-Sisterhood– an organisation which supports the advancement of women worldwide. In 2018, monies from the fundraising will be donated to Llamau, a homeless charity in Wales which runs special projects to help homeless women; the National Centre for Female Genital Mutilation which aims to put an end to this crime by 2030; Stop Acid Attacks in India; and The Black Mambas which is South Africa’s first all-female anti-poaching unit protecting the rhino.

The final is a four-day event and includes a fundraising day where finalists will cook a three course meal for paying guests at Giovanni’s Cookery School, an empowerment day led by one of the UK’s foremost leadership coaches; a celebration dinner with friends and family; and a catwalk show before a panel of judges from the beauty and fashion industry.

This year Charlotte will be competing for the title for the third year in a row.

She added: “This isn’t just a title to me, this is a platform where I can make a difference for our younger generation as I want to use the title of Miss Universe Great Britain to go to schools and speak to children about domestic violence as they need to know the difference between physical, mental, and sexual abuse.

“In my spare time you will most likely find me boxing or in the gym flipping tractor tyres, I am a fitness fanatic and I have a huge weakness when it comes to dogs, I am a proud owner of a cheeky Bassett Hound.”

As well as getting the opportunity to represent the UK at Miss Universe, the winner of Miss Universe Great Britain will also visit India, South Africa and The Philippines.
