Students from two Chorleywood schools recently joined several others from the local area to share presentations on the environment.
The children from The Russell School and Christ Church Chorleywood C of E School joined seven other schools from across the district at Watersmeet Theatre in Rickmansworth on Wednesday, June 26, for the Three Rivers Youth Council meeting.
Together, each of the schools highlighted various important aspects of climate change, sustainability, recycling, litter picking, minimising waste, planting trees and wildflowers, and more.
There were also several speakers at the event. These included author/musician Rilla Paterson, who performed stories from her musical play Child of the Future, and members of Sustainable Three Rivers, who spoke about locally grown produce.
The nine schools then chose a winner for best presentation, with the victor named as Maple Cross JMI School.
Katherine Simpson, the committee and electoral services manager for Three Rivers District Council, said: “The projects presented today reflect the commitment of our young people to a sustainable future. Their enthusiasm and innovative ideas inspire us all to take meaningful action.”
