A Stanmore school has clinched the top prize in the UK’s largest school choir competition for the second year in a row.
Amidst hundreds of entries from schools across the country, Canons Choir from North London Collegiate School was one of just 25 to make it to the final of Barnardo’s National Choral Competition.
Canons Choir performed two pieces in the final at Birmingham Symphony Hall: Night of Rainbows by Darius Lim and Witches’ Song by Douglas Coombes.
After being named as this year’s winner, Canons Choir has now earned the prestigious opportunity to perform at the Barnardo’s Young Supporters Concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
Mrs Cox, the school’s director of music, said: “I couldn’t be more thrilled and delighted for the girls. Everyone has worked extremely hard and shown amazing commitment; it is a privilege to work with such dedicated young ladies.”
