DEBUT NOVEL: Croxley author publishes debut crime thriller about group of assassins

A Croxley author published his debut thriller novel last month.

Lunch with the Deadly Dozen by Peter Berry follows a 68-year-old widower after he is invited to join a top-secret group of assassins in London. He instantly forms a bond with fellow crime-fighter Monica, a former chemistry professor from Gujarat.

The story is marketed as a cosy crime thriller; however, for Peter, the novel is also about “being part of a gang in your older years, at a time when many older folks find themselves lonely”.

Writing only became a full-time pursuit for Peter in recent years, after a successful 35-year career in the celebrity publicity industry.

According to Peter, writing his debut novel didn’t take long, but finding a publisher took many years. The 56 year old is “thrilled” now that Bloodhound Books has published his work.

The book was uploaded to Amazon in March ahead of its official launch. When CROXLEYnews spoke with Peter, eight five- and four-star reviews had already been submitted to the site.

Peter said: “It’s really bizarre – after so many years of trying to get this book published, overnight it’s suddenly in the wild and suddenly people are reading it and enjoying it!”

Lunch with the Deadly Dozen is available at Croxley Green Library and is available for purchase at numerous bookshops and online.
