Dacorum Borough Council (DBC) has faced criticism for allegedly not thanking a basketball coach who was instrumental in the refurbishment of a Hemel Hempstead basketball court.
Ken Corbin, founder of Hemel Sharks’ Community Basketball Club, said he was “dismayed” at not being recognised in a story in a DBC magazine about the works at Northridge Way basketball court.
The story, which was published in the winter edition of DBC’s Dacorum Life magazine, made no mention of Ken and his role.
A DBC spokesperson said: “In May 2022, we opened the refurbished Northridge Way basketball court, funded by the council and sponsorship from Hemel Hempstead firm Whitton Electrical.
“We thanked all those involved in the project, including community coaches Ken Corbin and Adrian Marioghae, across our communication channels and at the opening event.
“The short article in our print version of Dacorum Life publicised the facility and does not list all those involved in its development earlier this year. However, we would like to reiterate our thanks to everyone involved, including Ken Corbin.”
