Criticism is continuing to be levied against Three Rivers District Council’s (TRDC) plans for a new playground in Maple Cross.
Denham Way Playing Fields is currently being refurbished. A key point of debate has been parking, which some residents feel “should have been a priority”.
A resident of Maple Cross told RickyNews: “There has been a problem with parking at the weekends when the site is used by football clubs. On numerous occasions, we have been blocked in by people who park over our dropped kerb.”
Concerns over the need for a wildlife pond have also been raised, with some claiming that this is merely ticking the “natural environment considered” box without further thought.
A spokesperson for TRDC said: “An expanded car park has been noted as a facility that could be explored in the future, but is not currently costed out as part of these proposals as further funding and consultation would be required.
“We hope [the pond] will be naturally colonised by both terrestrial and aquatic species which will actively contribute to biodiversity plans.”
