A troublesome property near Stanmore has been closed down after years of anti-social behaviour plaguing nearby residents.
Thanks to a joint operation between Harrow Council’s Community Safety Unit and the Met Police, a property in Orchard Grove known for crime, drugs and anti-social behaviour has been shut down.
Despite attempts to deal with the issues including warrants and partial closures, the challenging situation between the occupier and owner made things difficult.
However, both the council and police persevered and in July were granted a full closure order in relation to the property.
Councillor Anjana Patel, cabinet member for environment and community safety, said: “Thanks to the joint work of officers, the right to a decent quality of life has been restored for residents who live in the area. No one should feel unsafe, worried or intimidated in their own neighbourhood.
“This went on for too long – despite numerous attempts to ban the property from use, I am pleased that we have now been successful. I hope this news will reassure residents and allow them to enjoy their day-to-day lives without feeling unsafe. This is one of many ways we are restoring pride in Harrow and we will continue to work with our partners to bring lasting solutions to put residents first and tackle issues that matter to Harrow residents.”
Following careful discussions, the owner has now decided to take back possession of their property, preventing the occupier from returning in the future.
