The familiar speciality coffee shop on Watling Street in Radlett that many residents visit for a boost of caffeine is campaigning to save its decking.
According to Brass Monkey, the decking was installed three years ago in the hopes of enhancing the high street and introducing café culture.
Speaking to RADLETTnews owner Warren said: “All we want to do is serve our customers and sell coffee! We were therefore very saddened that someone had complained to the council, which has led to a very expensive retrospective planning application and potential removal of our beloved decking area.”
Residents shared their views regarding the potential removal of the decking, with one saying: “Brass Monkey’s outside decking is so much more than just extra seating. It’s a welcoming space that brings people together, allowing families, friends and neighbours to meet, socialise and enjoy our community in a safe and inclusive environment.”
Hertsmere Borough Council is unable to comment as a decision is yet to be made.
