‘CRITICALLY ILL’: Fundraiser launched after Hemel man hospitalised in Mexico

Published on: 18th May 2024   |   By: Sophia Sheera   |   Category: Uncategorized

The family of a man who suffered a heart attack in Mexico last week is desperately raising money to cover the cost of medical bills.

Trevor Dealey, who lives in Hemel Hempstead and was born in Kings Langley, was hospitalised in Mexico on May 11 after going into cardiac arrest. Since then, Trevor has developed an infection and is now dependent on a ventilator.

The latest update reads that he has contracted sepsis and needs two further operations, marking him “critically ill”.

According to a GoFundMe page launched by Trevor’s daughter, Megan, the family have been hit with medical bills totaling over $100,000. Worse, Megan says that Trevor’s travel insurance company is refusing to pay out.

Since launching 24 hours ago, Megan’s fundraiser has accrued almost £15,000 in donations. However, Megan says that there is “no way” that the family will be able to pay for Trevor’s treatment in Mexico without huge financial help.

Writing on her GoFundMe page, Megan added: “Me and my brother have took an emergency flight out to be with [Trevor’s] partner to support her during this difficult time. Everything is up in the air at the moment with flights, hotels etc… we just want him healthy and home.”
