COW-SPIRACY: Croxley cricketer’s kit held ‘hostage’ by bovine band of thieves

The newest recruit at Croxley Guild Cricket Club was unexpectedly held up on his way to a match, in an incident that left his fellow players rather a-moo-sed.

Manny Mehat was on his way to Croxley Guild & Social Club via Croxley Common Moor when he found himself charged by a herd of cows. The 27-year-old ditched his cricket bag and ran for his life only to find that the bovine bunch had taken quite a liking to his kit.

In a video of Manny’s adventure that has now gathered over 35,000 views on Twitter, the HR professional explains: “If I get anywhere near the bag, they start running towards me.”

The cricketer then spent the best part of thirty minutes skirting around the edge of the group, desperately trying to reclaim his forsaken baggage.

According to Croxley legend Danny Dallas, the unrepentant herd not only held Manny’s bag “hostage” but “slobbered all over it”.

Danny added: “Manny called the team for help and was understandably faced with nothing but unhelpful banter. Even when he finally escaped the crowd, he was met by a chorus of moos at the clubhouse.

“The poor man is likely to be fielding at ‘cow corner’ for the rest of the season!” chortled Danny.

“It’s interesting to see how many people take such an interest in local cricket,” muttered Manny.
