COVID CAMPAIGN: Croxley teen helps emphasise stay at home message through new national campaign

A Croxley teen is featured in a national COVID-19 campaign which aims to encourage everyone to continue following the rules such as staying at home and wearing face coverings.

Anusha Devani, 17, from the village, featured in the advert which was first broadcast to millions of people on national television on Wednesday, February 24.

The campaign which will also be shared on other platforms such as radio and social media, as well as on billboards across the country, follows the announcement that the ‘stay at home’ message will remain in place until March 29.

Anusha who is hoping to go to university in September said she’s always had an interest in acting and sent in a self-tape to be considered for the part.

She said: “I’ve always been into acting and then joined an agency a few years ago.

“I had to do a self-tape where I talked about what I found difficult about lockdown and then got told I was confirmed for the role.”

Anusha added she was surprised at how big the campaign got so quickly and it feels good to be a part of the campaign.

She said: “I had a feeling it would be quite big because it was a government funded advert but I didn’t know that it would be on all the news sites with a photo of me as well.

“It’s quite cool seeing those photos in the papers and on different news sites.”

Anusha’s father Pritesh said on the day the campaign was broadcast on TV they received several calls from friends and family.

He said: “We were quite shocked because we knew it was going to appear on social media, but we kept getting calls from everyone saying, ‘we’ve just seen Anusha on TV.’

“We didn’t think it would get the exposure it’s got and suddenly every single newspaper has picked it up.”
