The committee responsible for organising several major events in Chalfont St Giles has won a special award.
The Chalfont St Giles Village Show team was awarded a Proud of Bucks Award for Best Community Group Contribution in the Denham, Gerrards Cross and Chalfonts Community Board area by Buckinghamshire Council at a ceremony on Friday, June 9.
Throughout the year, the committee of volunteers raise money to continue running a number of events in the village, often working overtime to make sure everything goes ahead smoothly.
This year, the team’s Coronation Street Party was so popular it even saw a special visit from Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
The committee has distributed more than £100,000 to more than 50 organisations over the years it has been in operation, with some of the funds used to help run events and some used to provide funding for local good causes.
Chalfont St Giles parish councillor Grant Kirkby, who is treasurer for the Village Show Committee, accepted the award on behalf of the group.
