In March 2023, more than 1,200 residents registered to be in with a chance of winning one of 20 water butts, as part of a new initiative by the Dacorum Climate Action Network (CAN).
The competition aimed to reduce the amount of water used from the mains water supply, by offering residents free water butts which collect and filter rainwater. This helps to save water resources and money, reduce emissions, and allows residents and their gardens to be more resilient to future droughts.
Four months later, Dacorum Borough Council is thrilled to share an update on the success of this mission.
The 20 winners have successfully installed their water butts, which is a major step in encouraging residents of Dacorum to look for new ways to help reduce waste, money and emissions.
