Developed by McCarthy & Stone, Beesons House was officially opened by the Chair of Three Rivers District Council, Cllr Keith Martin, who marked the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The development features 43 thoughtfully designed one and two-bedroom apartments, alongside a range of attractive communal facilities, including a welcoming lounge, guest suite and beautifully landscaped gardens. Residents can also enjoy raised planting beds and a dedicated potting shed, providing opportunities to socialise and enjoy gardening.
Speaking at the opening, Cllr Keith Martin said:
“I was delighted to attend the grand opening of Beesons House, having followed its progression over recent months. I have no doubt that the new community forming here will be a wonderful addition to Rickmansworth, and I wish all the residents and staff very best wishes as they settle in.”
The celebrations continued with a special cinnamon bun masterclass led by local baking personality Paul Barker, owner of the award-winning Cinnamon Square bakery.
Paul is also recognised for his contribution to the early development of the hugely popular television series The Great British Bake Off, where he helped create the concept behind its much-loved ‘technical challenge’.
Guests enjoyed a hands-on demonstration, learning some of Paul’s baking techniques before having the opportunity to decorate their own cinnamon buns and take part in a lively question-and-answer session. The interactive experience provided a wonderful opportunity for guests to connect and enjoy a taste of the sociable lifestyle on offer at Beesons House.
Paul Barker, owner of Cinnamon Square bakery, said:
“It was a real pleasure to help welcome guests to Beesons House – and what better way to celebrate a new beginning than with a Cinnamon Square bun, which is synonymous with Rickmansworth. Rickmansworth has a wonderfully warm family feel, and it was fantastic to see that same sense of community and fun already taking shape here. I hope everyone enjoyed getting creative with their frosting and, most importantly, eating the results!”
Alongside its stylish private apartments and welcoming shared spaces, Beesons House has been designed to offer homeowners reassurance, comfort and support, with a dedicated on-site team helping to create a safe and thriving community.
A House Manager will be available during office hours to oversee the day-to-day running of the development. Residents will also benefit from a 24-hour emergency call system and a camera entry system in each apartment, providing additional peace of mind.
The opening of Beesons House marks an exciting addition to Rickmansworth’s retirement living options, offering older people the opportunity to enjoy an independent lifestyle, make new connections and become part of a welcoming community, in a home designed to meet their needs as they change.
Rebecca Johnson, Group Sales and Marketing Director at McCarthy & Stone, said:
“We are delighted to welcome prospective homeowners to Beesons House as they begin an exciting new chapter in Rickmansworth. The opening celebration gave guests a wonderful insight into the active, sociable lifestyle the development has been created to provide, and Paul’s cinnamon bun masterclass made the occasion especially memorable. We look forward to seeing this new community flourish and become a valued part of local life.”
