Last month, Pinner&StanmoreNews reported on record-breaking Lily Janmohamed’s goal to beat her personal best at Battersea Parkrun. Lily’s previous PB was 19.45, but the remarkable runner wanted to smash this record.
Parkrun requires under-11s to run with an adult; two weeks before the challenge, Lily’s family met Joe Wood-Lowe, who volunteered to pace her. Joe kept Lily on track, encouraging her every step. With Joe’s help, Lily smashed her PB, finishing in 19 minutes and 15 seconds.
This race was also special because Lily decided to fundraise for Scope. Ahead of the challenge, the charity sent Lily a card and good luck video. Dame Kelly Holmes, one of Lily’s heroes, also shared a video online promoting her achievement.
This milestone was made even more worthwhile after her JustGiving page hit £4,000. Speaking to Pinner&StanmoreNews, Lily said: “Whenever my legs felt tired, I just remembered why I was doing it for Scope, and it kept me pushing”.
