On Good Friday, Watford footballing legend Troy Deeney set off on the cycling leg of the Sky Bet EFL Every Minute Matters Relay.
The striker teamed up with the British Heart Foundation to cycle from Vicarage Road to Leyton Orient’s Brisbane Road stadium. The relay aimed to inspire football fans to learn life-saving CPR.
Kicking off on Tuesday, March 25, the relay criss-crossed the country and covered nearly 2,500 miles. The 28-day journey culminated with an event at Wembley on Easter Monday.
Deeney said: “I’m proud to be back in Watford raising awareness of something that has had such a big impact on the football community. It’s amazing that we’ve already hit our target to get 270,000 fans starting to learn CPR – the equivalent of three Wembley stadiums – and I know we can smash it out the park and hit the new target of 360,000.
“I’m calling on all fans to take just 15 minutes to learn the lifesaving skill of CPR as every minute does matter, as it could be your family member, friend or fellow fan who needs you in that moment.”
