CLOSURE CONCERNS: Chalfont St Peter High Street still ‘open for business’ during works to tackle flooding

Published on: 7th November 2024   |   By: Ellie Rose   |   Category: Uncategorized

Chalfont St Peter High Street will be closed for up to six weeks as Thames Water carries out work to “eliminate sewage flooding”.

Over the last year, Chalfont St Peter Parish Council (CSPPC) has been liaising with other organisations, including Thames Water, Buckinghamshire Council, and the Environment Agency, to minimise future disruption caused by flooding.

To help tackle the issue, Thames Water is creating two new sewer access points and underground pipelines which will help to take excess flow from the High Street.

While the work is carried out, CSPPC has shared that the “shops [are] open for business as normal” despite the partial closure of the High Street.

One lane of the northbound carriageway of the A413 will be closed while works are underway, but access from the Greyhound roundabout will remain open. The village will also be accessible from Lower Road and Market Place.

All car parks will remain open, with one-hour free parking available.

The closure is expected to be in place until Thursday, December 5.
