A community group founded by former Garston resident, two-time heavyweight and Olympic Champion Anthony Joshua OBE is launching free boxing classes at the Meriden Centre.

Clean Herts Community (CIC), which was founded by Anthony Joshua OBE, has announced it will be launching free boxing classes for the Watford community.

For both children and adults, classes will begin on June 24 at the Meriden Centre Watford and run weekly for a year. Staffed by coaches from Finchley ABC, the classes are designed to help the community get fit whilst also providing the opportunity to meet new people and strengthen community bonds.

Clean Herts Community aims to open its doors for young people and adults to enjoy the sport of boxing, whilst giving local people the chance to find new opportunities through building confidence and discipline, all while building a clean hearted community.

Clean Herts Community Project Leader and sister of boxing legend Nikita Joshua said;

“It was important to us to give young people something to do on Friday evenings to stop them from potentially choosing the wrong path in life but also, for adults to have the opportunity to be able to enjoy a sport with no boundaries. We feel extremely grateful that Anthony as our founder shares this same passion with us and we’re able to spread such joy within our community through boxing.”

The mission of Clean Herts Community is to provide aid and opportunities for people of various demographics across Anthony’s hometown of Watford and other parts of Hertfordshire. They aim to do this through short, medium and eventually long term events and projects and aspire to be an overall source of help and hope for the community in any way we can.

Clean Herts Community holds an array of projects throughout the year to inspire and uplift the young people and families of Watford. From feeding those in need at Christmas, to operating football camps, their mission is to support the local community.
