RATE OR HATE: Colourful rainbow display in Chalfont St Peter causes controversy

Published on: 4th May 2022   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

A large display of rainbow and heart drawings has appeared on a fence in Chalfont St Peter, causing a stir amongst residents, who have mixed opinions about the work.

The colourful display by Amersham Road divided residents, some of whom enjoyed the colourful display whilst others disapproved of the work calling it ‘messy graffiti.’

One resident said: “Beats me why some can’t appreciate the beautiful countryside we live in without having to scrawl over every space in the village. It seems there is an epidemic of graffiti in the village. Every junction box in the village covered in it.”

Another resident commented: “Honestly astonished how many people moan about some drawings… its most likely children, get on with it there are worse things in life. I live up this hill and no one really cares about it. We just wish the waggon never got demolished.”

Another added: “Who is going to paint over it? At what cost? With the rising cost of living and people having to work their socks off, nobody has the time or money to sort this problem out. Not everybody likes the graffiti so why should everybody be subjected to it? What’s the difference between this graffiti and any other? Its criminal damage at the end of the day.”
