CHOIR CHARITY: Berkhamsted glee club supports restoration of historic church’s windows

A singing group on a mission to have fun while raising money for good causes is supporting the restoration of Berkhamsted Baptist Church.

Gobstoppers Glee Club are hosting a concert at the church at 6.30pm on Saturday, April 20, to help support the restoration of the Grade II listed building’s windows, estimated to cost £30,000.

It is not the first time Gobstoppers Glee Club has raised money for a good cause. The Berkhamsted-based group has raised more than £60,000 for charities such as Hector’s House, Signpost, The Chiltern MS Society, and many others.

Gobstoppers Theatre Arts was founded by Chris and Victoria Williams in 1994, with the adult glee group created in 2011 to meet growing demand.

Explaining the inspiration behind Gobstoppers Glee Club, Chris said: “We wanted to create a community group to make singing accessible to all and to raise money for charity in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. We now meet twice a week on Tuesday at midday and Thursday at 8pm and all are welcome.”

Tickets for the concert supporting Berkhamsted Baptist Church cost £5 and will be available on the door or via their website.
