As part of a campaign to encourage pharmacy use, and to appeal for continued government support, the MP for South West Hertfordshire recently visited Abbey Pharmacy in Abbots Langley.
On Monday, September 16, Gagan Mohindra MP met with the team led by pharmacist manager Dolores D’Souza and Girish Mehta, the managing director of Chemilab, the family-run pharmacy business with practices across the local area.
While on site, Mr Mohindra MP discussed the various services that the pharmacy offers, including flu and COVID-19 vaccines ahead of the winter season, weight loss treatment, travel vaccines, and more. He also had his blood pressure checked, a free service the pharmacy offers to eligible patients.
Speaking after the visit, he said: “It is essential that our pharmacies and the value they provide to local communities are protected, and that they have the right resources to continue to provide a high-quality service in our area.”
Mr Mehta added: “Pharmacists should be the first port of call if you are feeling unwell. Use us to your benefit and ease the burden on other NHS service providers. But we can’t do this without the right financial support. Pharmacies really need this to continue serving our communities effectively.”
