A former Aldenham School pupil has been tipped as ‘The Arsenal wonderkid’ after making an impressive senior debut for Arsenal FC.

Charlie Patino, 18, who attended Aldenham School between 2015-2022, netted a goal in the EFL semi-cup final, in a 5-1 win against Sunderland on December 21 at The Emirates Stadium.

At Aldenham, Charlie was a game-changer for the school’s football team and was part of two of the ISFA National Cup winning sides. The school has been watching Charlie’s progress with real interest and were pleased to witness the same talent and energy in his Senior Team Debut as on the school pitch.

Mr Grant Cornock, Head of Football at Aldenham School said: “Well done Charlie. The first step in hopefully a very long and successful career. Thoroughly deserved your special moment.”

Headmaster Mr James Fowler said: “Well done Charlie. So pleased that you were able to bring into reality what we all knew was a possibility. What a goal! A fabulous start and we wish you every success going forwards!”

The 18-year-old midfielder started his career at St Albans City FC before moving to Luton Town in 2011 and Arsenal in 2015.

Charlie Patino said: “I remember my dad explaining to me that not every boy has the opportunity to do that and we really took the time out to make sure that we chose the right club.”
