More than £2600 has been raised by customers in Croxley’s Co-op stores, going straight to three deserved local causes.
The charities and groups currently chosen by the company to receive funds include sailing club Bury Lake Young Mariners, disabled childrens’ service Short Breaks @ West Hyde, and disabled sailing group Colne Valley Special Sailors.
So far, at the time of writing, a total of £2614.97 has been raised by the community, with funds expected to rise until the company picks three new local causes to support in October.
Aside from this initiative, the Co-op shops have also been fundraising for other charity groups too.
Guideposts is a local charity for those dealing with mental health problems, caring responsibilities, and disabilities to live the best quality of life possible. The Co-op Foodstore on New Road teamed up with the Co-op Funeralcare to provide support, handing over a cheque for £300.
The Foodstore on Watford Road is also set to present a cheque to Rickmansworth-based charity 9 Lives Furniture, who take in second-hand furniture items, repair them and sell them on rather than wasting them, with the work being carried out by those with learning disabilities or mental health issues.
