Students from Nascot Wood Junior School in Watford have raised nearly £200 for a local learning disability charity from a scrunchie sale.
Year 6 pupil Kiera Sheehy enlisted the help of her friends Any and Maryam to sell the scrunchies, which were donated to Watford Mencap by a local company.
Motivated by her cousin’s positive experience with the charity, Kiera asker her headteacher’s permission to organise a school sale.
Speaking to WATFORDnews, Watford Mencap fundraiser Jolene said: “They set up, the classroom doors opened, and children came from everywhere. It was quite a sight! In 25 minutes, the girls managed to raise £190.60 which is incredible! Watford Mencap are extremely grateful to the girls and Nascot Wood Junior School for facilitating the sale.”
Watford Mencap relies heavily on donations to provide services which support around 600 local people each year, including 200 children and young people in Watford and surrounding areas.
