Stanmore could be set to lose a walk-in health centre under plans put forward by Harrow health chiefs.
Harrow Clinical Commissioning Group (HCCG) wants to make the change at The Belmont Centre on Kenton Lane and believes the move will benefit residents.
A similar move in nearby Pinner has caused uproar however and a petition launched against the plans has been signed by nearly 10,000 people.
The CCG said: “Since the change at Alexandra Avenue we have spoken to service users to gather their feedback, and reviewed usage data for the service.
“We are confident that the change from a walk-in and wait service to an appointment-only service for Harrow residents has been beneficial. We are now looking at the possibility of making the same change at the Belmont Health Centre and Pinn Medical Centre.”
Opening up services in Harrow means wherever patients live in the borough there will be equal availability of GP access services.
GP access centres offer improved access to GP services for local residents, who don’t need to spend long periods of time in the waiting room; they can simply call their GP practice or NHS 111 to book an appointment.

why change something that works?
I want the centre to remain there I think losing it would be a terrible thing and it has been very useful to me I have used it as a walk-in centre and it works.
I think it would be a mistake for them to stop it and I will sign the petition if you can tell me how to do so!
