A permanent memorial honouring those who lost their lives to COVID-19 has been unveiled at Breakspear Crematorium in Ruislip.
The new water feature is accompanied by a plaque dedicated to the more than 800 Hillingdon residents who died during the pandemic.
It was officially unveiled by the Mayor of Hillingdon councillor Becky Haggar in the presence of the Mayor’s Consort, Marios Kaikitis; councillor Ian Edwards, the Leader of Hillingdon Council; and councillor Eddie Lavery, Hillingdon Council’s cabinet member for residents’ services.
Cllr Edwards said: “The COVID-19 pandemic impacted so many people and we felt it was extremely important to create a permanent memorial in the borough to remember those who have died.
“This new feature is intended to provide a place of quiet reflection and remembrance for families, loved ones and visitors and is a beautiful addition to the crematorium site.”
