A Shenley lad has helped to lead his local youth football team to victory in their final season together.
Josh Rockman is the captain of the U18s Youth Lions side of London Colney FC, with it being the side’s last year before transitioning out of the under-18 age bracket.
Knowing this would be the final season, the team set themselves the goal of winning their league, the Watford Friendly League’s Blue Division, a target they hit with incredible ability, winning 14 of their 18 matches, drawing two, and losing only two.
The side finished the season at the top of the table with 44 points, five ahead of runners-up, Harvesters Souths, a special way to end many years of playing together.
Speaking to RadlettNews about the win, Josh said: “With great character and strength we completed the vision we set at the beginning of the season.
“It was an honour to captain this memorable team throughout the season, and I couldn’t wait to lift the trophy!”
“Thank you to our manager Trevor and coach Daryl who have guided us throughout the season.”
