Following a competition held to choose the winning design for a new mural, the artwork was revealed to the winner, runner-up and their families.
As reported in last month’s ABBOTSnews, the new mural at Abbots Langley Community Centre (ALCC) was designed by 12-year-old Methara, with nine-year-old Jasmine named as runner-up.
The celebration was held on Sunday, August 31, with chair of Abbots Langley Parish Council councillor Jayne Lay, chair of the community centre Eryl McNally, many members of the ALCC, and local artist Gaye Daniels in attendance.
Flowers were presented to Gaye to reward her for her work in painting the mural, and cllr Lay presented prizes to Methara and Jasmine.
Methara was “proud” to help Gaye paint the mural and also learned some new art techniques.
Speaking to ABBOTSnews, secretary of ALCC Marian Marsh said: “As we recently had the centre redecorated, the mural wall really stands out. Everybody has nothing but good things to say.”
