Plans to build a gym and spa in Gerrards Cross have been withdrawn after concerns about the environmental impact of the project.
Sarova Hotels had previously submitted plans to Buckinghamshire Council to build on the Bull Hotel on Oxford Road, adding new luxury leisure facilities in a detached building by the hotel car park.
Previous design sketches show plans for a relaxation room, jacuzzi, plant room and store, steam room and sauna, gym, treatment rooms and toilets.
The plans have now been dropped due to objections about the potential impact on trees in a conservation area.
In a planning notice issued on April 1, Lucy Dolan, Senior Planning Officer at Buckinghamshire Council said: “I confirm that the application has been treated as withdrawn and the file has therefore been closed.”
A design and access statement (DAS) said the gym and spa would have been “located amongst mature trees” on site.
Before the plans were withdrawn, the DAS noted: “The proposed facility is intended to bolster the appeal of the hotel and expand the business base, to assist the hotel in its recovery from the considerable impact of the COVID pandemic.”
Sarova Hotels and The Bull Hotel were contacted for comment.
It is currently unknown if Sarova Hotels will submit revised plans.
