GET READING: Challenge offers bookworms in Bushey a chance to meet famous poet

Published on: 8th July 2024   |   By: Annabel Stock   |   Category: Uncategorized

Bushey Library is launching its annual Summer Reading Challenge to inspire children to keep reading over the summer.

The library is challenging children to read six library books between July and September, as well as encouraging them to visit the library and talk about the books they have been reading. In return, the library provides incentives including a collector folder and stickers.

Children who successfully complete the challenge receive a medal, a special pencil and a certificate. They will also be entered into a prize draw to win a ticket to an exclusive poetry workshop with award-winning children’s poet, Joshua Seigal, in October.

The theme of this year’s challenge is ‘Marvellous Makers’. Developed in collaboration with the creative arts charity, Create, the theme aims to spark children’s imaginations through books and help them to discover their own creativity through reading.

Children of all ages can sign up for free with a library card at any Hertfordshire library from Saturday, July 6, until Saturday, September 7.
