Plans to build a residential caravan site on green belt land in Radlett have faced heavy criticism.
The application, which has been submitted to Hertsmere Borough Council (HBC), proposes to build one mobile home, one touring caravan and a utility/dayroom on land adjacent to Bridgefoot Cottages on Watling Street.
In response, a campaign group called Save Hertsmere has been calling on residents to object to the plans.
They have listed 20 reasons why people should object, including the location on green belt land, loss of vegetation, and its access to the busy A5183.
More than 400 residents have already objected to the plans on HBC’s planning portal, with some describing it as “totally inappropriate for the area” and “unacceptable”.
Local councillors Caroline Clapper and David Lambert have also waded into the debate to voice their objections.
Cllr Clapper told RADLETTnews: “My co-ward colleague councillor David Lambert and I share residents’ concerns about this proposal.
“We have already ‘called in’ this application so that it will be heard by the Planning Committee at Hertsmere, and I will be advocating against this application.”
The application can be found on HBC’s planning portal searching for 22/1897/FUL.
HBC is unable to comment at this time. Applicants Green Planning Studio have been contacted for comment.
