CERTON APP: Ricky company scoops up two electrical industry awards

A Rickmansworth-based electrical contractor and interior designer scooped up two award at the Electrical Industry Awards 2019.

Boyd and Katie Goulden set up their new business CertOn, which beat some major names in the electrical industry to win the Commercial Product of the Year and the Electrical App of the Year at The Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington last month.

Serving the Chorleywood, Croxley Green and Rickmansworth area, CertOn was created out of the frustration of not being able to see certificates for electrical and gas works carried out at a property.

Managing director, Boyd said: “The idea came from missing, misplaced or not received certificates and other important documents at properties, and I thought, there’s got to be a simple solution for this.

“I bought my idea to Larry Rach at Twin Technology and Tom Sewel at CyberUK (both based in Watford) and we invented an app and QR code technology to simply scan and retrieve any important finalized property document to be instantly viewed once uploaded to CertOn, without the need for any paper copies, simple, safe and secure in the cloud, so no more hunting around.

“We are selling the product to Installers – electricians, gas engineers, developers, housing associations, landlords, and home owners – who all want transparency of documents and no need to wonder where they are anymore, emailed and paper copies are so old news.”
