CRIMINAL DAMAGE: Apsley church nonplussed after numerous acts of vandalism

Published on: 19th December 2023   |   By: Darius Morgan   |   Category: Uncategorized

A church in Apsley has been left reeling after a string of recent attacks.

Over two weeks at the beginning of December, St Mary’s Church suffered four separate incidents of vandalism.

Bricks were thrown through the window to the front door and side window, and the back door was also kicked in.

Church warden Harry Graham Bolton told Kings News: “Somebody has got it in their head that we’re the root of all evil.

“Fixing the damages is going to cost us a fair bit! The cost of the back door is £250 alone.”

The fourth incident came on the night of December 13 during one of the church’s community games nights.

Whilst gamers congregated inside, the perpetrator or perpetrators unknown took the opportunity to hurl a brick through the window of a resident’s car which was parked outside.

Harry said: “We’ve got no idea why or who is doing it. If you have any information at all, please contact the police or the church.”
