Aaron Foster from Croxley Green managed to catch the largest fish in the lake at Cassiobury Farm and Fishery that he’s been desperate to get for over three years.
He started off fishing with his Dad when he was 4 years old, and 30 years on he is still carrying on the hobby and can spend hours during the day fishing.
Speaking to CroxleyNews, he said: “I was really happy when I caught it, I’ve spent over three years trying to get to it and it’s the main one in the lake.
“Now I’ve managed to capture this particular one I can move on, it’s really clever type of fish and I’ve caught 40 pounders before, but not on this scale.”
The fish was a Ghost Carp and it came in at 48.03lbs, making it one of the largest of its type in the country.
The largest caught in British waters currently stands at 53 points, making Aaron’s just under five pounds lighter.
After capturing it, Mr Foster made sure to put the fish back in the water and has even seen it since, but he did make sure to get a photo with it before returning it into the lake.
