Cassiobury Hub shortlisted for Building Futures Award

Published on: 30th September 2018   |   By: Jason Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

Cassiobury Hub has been shortlisted for this year’s Hertfordshire Building Futures Awards, which celebrates schemes at the forefront of sustainable design and construction.

Cassiobury has been voted one of the UK’s top 10 parks, and is now visited more than 2.15m times per year, making the Hub a popular destination to visit. So Knox Bhavan Architects were tasked with making sure it was sustainable and showcased excellence in architectural design.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “I am delighted that this major regeneration project led by Watford Borough Council has been recognised by the Building Futures judges. Cassiobury Hub is already proving to be a very popular building. Our investment, along with funding from the Heritage Lottery and Big Lottery funding, has transformed the area into an exciting, modern water play and splash area for families to enjoy. The hub is well used by local schools and provides a meeting place for the whole community. This nomination is well deserved recognition for all those who helped design and deliver this wonderful hub.”

Judges from Hertfordshire Design Review Panel, who have a wealth of expertise in sustainability, architecture, landscape and urban design, will be assessing Cassiobury Hub in the Most Sustainable Construction, Project of the Year and Design Excellence this year.

Winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony on Thursday October 4 at Knebworth House.
