CAREFUL CARS: Parking restrictions added to road in Bushey after 10 years of campaigning

Published on: 12th September 2024   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

Double yellow lines have been installed on a 90-degree corner in Glencoe Road, Bushey.

For more than 10 years, businesses and residents have campaigned for road markings to be added because of numerous issues caused by cars parked on the corner.

Philip Ellisdon, owner of ASNU Corporation Europe, explained that commercial trucks and refuse collection companies would often refuse to enter the road. This cost the company £100 to £200 in cancellation fees.

The company also had to cancel or discount orders made by customers who would not receive their items on time.

Mr Ellisdon also shared: “Sometimes we had to pay extra for smaller delivery vehicles to make sure they could get around.”

Minor crashes have also taken place on the corner, including one incident when a Range Rover was hit by a truck.

Mr Ellisdon also raised concerns that emergency services would not be able to safely enter the road.

Residents and businesses are now relieved that the double yellow lines have been installed.

Hertfordshire County Council has been contacted for comment.
