A group of schoolchildren aren’t taking no for an answer in their quest to have their voices heard.
The UNICEF Rights Respecting Group at Rickmansworth Park School is a cohort of pupils who are determined to make a positive difference.
Recently, the group has become involved in a campaign to get the company behind their school dinners, Hertfordshire Catering, to reduce the amount of food waste it produces.
Sending emails to the business, as well as Gagan Mohindra, MP for South West Hertfordshire, and the Secretary of State for Education, the children were disappointed after receiving a response from Hertfordshire Catering that had nothing to do with their questions and no other replies.
A spokesperson for Mr Mohindra MP said: “Gagan was pleased to have recently received a letter from the group.
“He was saddened to read that they are yet to receive his response, likely due to Royal Mail strikes. He would be more than willing to visit the school to speak with the group.”
Hertfordshire Catering has been contacted for comment.
