A North Watford campaigner is celebrating after a year long battle to get a worn out road resurfaced.
Ian Stotesbury, Liberal Democrat campaigner for North Watford collected a petition in January 2017 calling on the county council to get Lowestoft Road, which is badly rutted, resurfaced.
Ian thought his efforts had paid off when last November he was told the resurfacing would be done in December. He was then told in December it would have to wait until the end of February. Ian and the Lib Dem Team suggested that it would be best to do it in half term week as there would be less traffic so today (February 16) the works finally started.
He said: “I am pleased that at last our efforts have paid off and the work is being done – it’s been a long old battle but I am sure everyone will see the benefits. I had wanted the works to include the junction with St Albans Road but seems that’s not being done but at least the worn out sections at the junctions with Leavesden Road are being resurfaced – persistence has paid off.”
