Call for more volunteers as charity shop reopens

Published on: 10th January 2019   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

A charity shop in Chalfont St Peter has made a plea for volunteers to help keep the shop running after it reopened at the start of 2019.

Barnardo’s store in Chalfont St Peter has struggled in recent times as ill health of staff means it has not been able to remain constantly open.

However, 2019 has started with optimism for the store as it has officially reopened, although volunteers are still required.

The retail outlet at 3a Market Place promises a collection of clothes that will leave shoppers spoilt for choice, as well a treasure trove of knick-knacks that could make the ideal gift but won’t break the bank.

Barnardo’s area business manager, Luke Grogan, says: “We look forward to welcoming back our long serving customers to our friendly Chalfont St Peter store and saying hello to new shoppers who are keen to bag a bargain.

“With winter here there is no better time to come and browse our warm winter clothes. Please do drop by and see what we have to offer – you will be guaranteed a warm welcome.

“We are delighted to be back in business on Market Street and shopping with us will also help Barnardo’s to give disadvantaged children a better future.”

The store is also putting out a plea for volunteers.

Luke adds: “We have a number of volunteering opportunities available, and volunteers can do anything from working in the stockroom, managing the till, sorting the stock or working on displays on the shop floor.

“Volunteering can often help as a route into work but it may also be an opportunity to socialise or fill some spare time. Whatever your motivation, we are a warm and friendly team and we look forward to hearing from interested people.”

For further information about volunteering with Barnardo’s in Chalfont St Peter, please contact Gery at the store on 01753 889070.

The store is open from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
