Northwood’s Michael Sobell Hospice Charity (MSHC) is calling on local people to support a sponsored walk taking place next month.

The Historic Sponsored Walk, is taking place on Sunday October 7 at 9.30am, in the run-up to National Hospice Care Week.

It will help raise funds to support Michael Sobell’s day hospice service, which provides an invaluable and local service for patients, carers and families.

The seven mile walking challenge through the picturesque surroundings of Buckinghamshire and Grand Union Canal, is open to everyone, no matter your age, level of fitness or ability.

Commenting on the walk, MSHC Events Manager, Ophelia Chambers-Henry, said: “We’re appealing to all our loyal and dedicated supporters to get behind this event and show your support, and in turn help us to ensure those people who need hospice care in our local area continue to have access to it. The walk is open to all ages and abilities, plus our four-legged friends!”

The walking route will see participants setting off at 9.30am from the grounds of Michael Sobell Hospice Charity, to make their way across the Northwood, Moor Park, Rickmansworth and Harefield countryside, including the picturesque Grand Union Canal, returning to base for a well-deserved cuppa and souvenir certificate.

Ophelia explained: “As a charity, we want to retain inpatient and day care services in a rebuilt, renovated or relocated Michael Sobell Hospice in the north of Hillingdon, and therefore will continue to fundraise as we have done for the past 40 years. This year’s walk will specifically raise funds for our Day Hospice, which provides an invaluable service for patients, carers and families. This gives our patients and carers access to nursing care; advice and support and complimentary, physical and art therapies-as well as funding the amenities such as massage oils and art equipment. The service relies solely on the charity’s fundraising and would not be available to help local people without it.”

Book your place(s) at www.michaelsobellhospice.co.uk or call the Charity team on 020 3826 2367 now.

Entry is £10 per adult and £5 per child under 16 (on the day sign up is £15 per adult, £5 per child under 16).

Online entry is now open via the charity’s website or you can simply pick up a registration form in any of the charity’s shops in Northwood, Ruislip and Eastcote.
