CALL FAILURE: Northwood residents left without landline service for more than two weeks

Published on: 10th April 2024   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

A Northwood resident has hit out at a telecommunications company after their road was left without landline services for more than two weeks.

The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, lives on Harlyn Drive, where from Sunday, March 17, to the morning of Monday, April 2, those who use BT’s landline operations were left completely cut off.

Speaking to Northwood & Ruislip News, the resident said: “This happened with absolutely no prior warning and has been a huge problem for the many elderly residents of Harlyn Drive who do not have mobile phones and who are completely reliant on their landlines.

“One vulnerable resident in her late 70s couldn’t access her doctor’s appointments over the phone, so she had to go to the hospital herself on her own.

“We were given so many different dates to when it would be fixed. BT have been useless throughout this whole debacle.”

The resident added that in a phone conversation with the phone company trying to figure out what had happened, the BT advisor mentioned that the outage may have affected hundreds more people in the North London area.

According to the resident, BT explained that the situation was caused by cables being stolen, though the resident admitted their doubts as to the company’s explanation, pointing out that a new digital service was being launched on the same day the outage first took place.

BT have been contacted for comment.
