The Rising Sun pub in Berkhamsted has saved its outdoor seating despite complaints to the Canal & River Trust.
The pub, which is located by lock 55 and overlooks the Grand Union Canal, was forced to remove all outdoor seating after complaints were made by walkers and boaters over access to the lock.
Representatives from the Canal & River Trust subsequently visited the pub, and a formal arrangement was made to allow the venue to retain its outdoor seating.
Speaking on social media, landlords Nigel and Mark said: “[We] would like to say how grateful we are to have so many friends. We have been humbled by the support and love that you have shown to The Riser.
“That being said, I wanted to let you know as soon as possible that the lovely people from the Canal & River Trust came down to see me this afternoon and were good enough to agree to a formal arrangement that will allow us to have the seating that we have always enjoyed, in front of the pub and adjacent to the lock.”
