RELOCATION REVAMP: More school places for pupils with special educational needs to move to Croxley

A school which is being relocated to Croxley will offer more than 200 places for children with special education needs and disabilities (SEND).

Plans to extend the provision at Breakspeare School, in Gallows Hill Lane, Abbots Langley, by 48 places were discussed by Hertfordshire County Council’s (HCC) Cabinet on Monday, September 18.

A spokesperson for HCC said: “We are committing a large amount of capital investment to relocate and enlarge Breakspeare School to a new purpose-built location in Croxley Green, which will fully meet the needs of both existing and new children in the west of the county.”

Following the school’s full relocation to Croxley in 2025/26, there will be 210 spaces.

In the meantime, from January 2024, a satellite location at Holywell Primary School in Watford will increase the number of places from 97 to 145.

Councillor Caroline Clapper, HCC’s cabinet member for education, lifelong learning and libraries, told CROXLEYnews: “I am delighted that the Cabinet unanimously agreed to the proposed enlargement of Breakspeare and the satellite places at Holywell.

“These additional places will go towards the ongoing need for special school places. This decision, along with the other additional places agreed, clearly demonstrates Hertfordshire’s ongoing commitment towards provision for children in our county with SEND.”
